Denny’s? Really?

Yes, seriously, Denny’s. Looka here, when you’re driving around SEATAC, there’s pretty much nothing to eat. And I mean nothing! We just needed a snack.
A with her chocolate shake.
Denny’s hash brown. Don’t any of you poo-poo this. I love me some denny’s hash browns.
I also got the caramel apple crisp a la mode. I was wavering between this and cheesecake and our super friendly server recommended this. Dude, it was so good. And now, I promise not to go to a Denny’s again for another 5 years.

Sonic Road Trip

You all know I’m in love with Sonic. Ever since visiting the original Sonic in Oklahoma City, I’ve had an unhealthy obsession with this fast food drive-up joint. And when you’re a lady of leisure on a staycation, you can take road trips in the middle of the day so you can gorge yourself on Sonic goodness. The closest Sonic to me is now in Limerick. And in reality, it’s not really that far at all.
You should know how this place works by now. You’ve seen the commercials. You drive up and order through that big ol sqwuak box. Carhops come out and give you your food. Then you stuff your face. You can also go through a regular drive-thru if you don’t want to eat in your car. There’s also some tables in the front so you can dine al fresco.
A got a grilled chicken salad. It comes with an onion ring. Her sister had raved about it so she had to get it. She liked it, but didn’t necessarily feel it was rave worthy. But it was still a good salad.
I wanted to leave plenty of room for drinks, that’s what I really love about Sonic, so I just had a corn dog and some onion rings. The corn dog was actually pretty good. A didn’t know what a corn dog was. She thought it was a cob of corn. Ha! The onion rings were delicious. The batter was great, just right, and the onions were sweet and well cooked. I don’t like it when the onions are crunchy, and these were perfectly cooked. Now there were only two of us but you see 4 drinks in that photo, all for us. I had an XL strawberry limeade and a regular banana cream pie shake for dessert. I just want you to see just how big this limeade is. Yes, it’s huge, and I drank it all… over the next couple of days. A got a real fruit strawberry slush, which she totally enjoyed, but she got a human sized one.
Oh a beautiful close-up of the strawberry limeade… with my favorite little ice pellets. I wish you could see the chunks of strawberries and taste them too.

Redstone Overpriced Grill

There’s a whole renaissance (haha) happening at Plymouth Meeting Mall lately. They’ve built a bunch of new buildings with a bunch of chain restaurants. They’re also building out the largest Whole Foods in Pennsylvania. I guess the good thing is having some additional lunch options. While at PF Chang’s, we noticed the Redstone American Grill next door. Noone had ever heard of it before. With a need to escape the office, we decided to try it out. The place is pretty big, dimly lit, and seems to cater to the button down shirt and khaki work crowd. It’s not hip or young. You could see older middle management in suits hanging out here and getting steaks. Oh, and the place is so not cheap.

R went with one of their overpriced sandwiches – pastrami. She said it was good, but a bit too greeasy. And it wasn’t overstuffed with meat either. Redstone, where is this $14 coming from?

Both D and I went with the redstone burger, which came with cheese, apple wood smoked bacon, and barbecue sauce. I also got the optional grilled onions, which were red onions. A nice touch. This burger was huge, and there wasn’t enough bbq sauce on it, so when I asked for a side of bbq sauce, she brought me out a gravy boat full. It was glorious. It also came with fries, and I did like these fries quite a bit. Thinly sliced, crispy, delicious. The burger was pretty good too. A little difficult to eat since it was was practically six inches high. Service was fine, but it did take a hella long time for our food to come out. The food was ok, but like I said, rather pricey. It’s a lot, especially for lunch, especially only for a sandwich or a burger. Will I be back? Eh, not necessarily. Once may have been enough for me. I’m not convinced it’s worth it.
