We got up and headed back to adorable downtown Fort Collins to grab some coffee. We were headed onward to the Rocky Mountains! We had spotted cute Starry Night Coffee the day before during our walks. They have a really cool version of Van Gogh’s starry night painting on one of their walls, with a mini Fort Collins in the foreground.
It’s your standard local coffee joint with coffee, tea, juices, and some food. They had baked goods and some sandwiches and salad type things. This place is not hipster. It’s just cute. Small, but not tiny… it’s cozy.
They had some flavored lattes so I got a toffee nut latte, because you know, there’s nothing like a cup full of candy bar. I asked if it was possible in decaf and she complied! And here, they actually gave me a decaf. Success! And of course, they have coffee beans for sale. Their coffee was perfect fuel for our trip to the Rockies!

We couldn’t bust out of Wyoming fast enough. Within a quick drive, we were saved by glorious Ft. Collins. We started roaming the adorable little college town’s downtown area and stopped into the Bean Cycle for some morning brew. Here’s something we didn’t expect of the place. It’s huge. It’s absolutely deceptively ginormous. It just goes on and on and there’s even a little upstairs with a bookstore? The counter is huge, and the menus behind the counter are huge.
They have a huge variety of organic and vegan baked goods. In fact, one thing I noticed, is that most of the coffee shops in Colorado specifically seem to carry vegan baked goods. There are some sofas, a piano, some counter space, and tons of tables for you to get comfortable.
It is family operated shop, and all the coffees are organic, fair trade, and roasted in-house. In addition to your standard coffee options, they have a number of specialized drinks. I got the Ella Vanilla, made with honey, vanilla, steamed milk, and espresso. It was ella good! Strong and delicious. S got the Mexican Mocha, made with cinnamon stick, orange, ghirardelli chocolate, and espresso. She enjoyed hers immensely. They’re not exactly speedy here. It takes awhile to get your order, but that’s ok. You can just hang out and relax.
Before we departed Denver for flatter and lamer pastures (yes, I’m talking to you Cheyenne, Wyoming), we stopped by Geez, Louise! Coffee House for some fuel. Check out the scantily clad mannequin that greets you outside! The inside is just as kooky. But it’s comfortable, like a weird person’s house. Colorful too.
But here’s what not to do. When the old guy working the register takes your order, don’t think that he’s paying attention to you. Because I repeated small decaf latte a good three or four times. Every time he said it back to me, he said small latte. It’s like he had a mental block! And ultimately, when I got my drink, it was indeed, not decaf. So instead of repeating something that will go ignored, just go hang at the area where the barista is actually making your coffee, and tell him. Because old man anti-decaf is not going to pay attention to you. But other than that major mishap, I have no complaints. They make a good coffee. Even if they don’t listen to you.

" list. So of course, I decided to try them all. Join me for this 15-post series, as I test out each of these cocktails to see just how worthy they are.
