Poolside Eats – Orlando

After the third and final day of trade show goodness, and where it was actually truly warm enough to hang outside, we ate at the restaurant at the hotel pool. And really, the weather could not have been lovelier. And it was super relaxing. For me, a passion fruit smoothie to soothe the stress away…
I think these are southwestern style egg rolls. These weren’t half bad!
A grilled chicken sandwich with fries. You can’t really tell from the photo, but this sandwich was huge. I mean, like freakishly huge. Like fit for three people to eat huge. I snagged a lot of these fries and really liked them.
I got the fish tacos. They were served with some guac, pico, sour cream, and mango salsa. The tacos weren’t all that great, I ended up eating only two of them because the last one just wasn’t worth eating. But the fixins were all good! And the fruit too. And the food came out beyond slow. I mean, you’re at a pool, so I guess you can just hang out. But it was really nearly unacceptably slow. What are you gonna do?

Shindig At The Hard Rock Hotel Orlando

We had a little customer appreciation thingy at the Hard Rock Hotel for our lovely customers. In addition to drinks, of course, we had a little bit of food action too. One of the favorite items of the evening, grilled cheese shooters! Look how adorable these things are! It’s a little shot glass with tomato soup and a piece of grilled cheese shoved inside. Cute and freakin tasty!

They also had these vegetarian spring rolls with plum dressing. Now I typically love me some spring rolls / egg rolls with shrimp or chicken or what not in them, but these little veggie ones were great! The plum sauce was perfect, but it was extremely sticky! It was kind of hard to get it off the spoon and onto your plate.

They also had these little mini beef wellingtons with cumberland sauce. I don’t know what beef welling is so I looked it up. I don’t know if these mini ones had pate in them. I also don’t know what cumberland sauce is so I looked it up too. I don’t think this one was fruit based. However genuine or non-genuine these were, all I know is that I liked them.

They also had some people walking around with other appetizers. One of them were these adorable little mini puff pastries filled with crab and mango salsa. Delicious! For a little hotel catered evening, the food was great!

Italy Hotel Eats – Breakfasts And Dinner

The breakfasts at my hotel, Hotel Castelbarco, in the middle of nowhere Italy, were stellar. They were everything I could ask for, other than being able to make my own waffles. Here’s some bread for toast (only white bread here) and some pastries. I never tried one of these, but was told they probably had chocolate in them. I’m not sure I would have been able to eat chocolate so early.

There’s the obligatory yogurt. And of course, frizzante water!

There’s also a plate of fruit as well as fresh cut fruit, including blood oranges, kiwi, and pineapple. This was my first experience eating blood orange, as I’d only had the juice before. I love me some blood orange! Those grapes by the way, were ginormous.

They also have a giant bowl of essentially, cookies. And for your toast, butter and jam, but also nutella and other sweet spreads.

I loved the fresh juices. I mostly stuck to orange and then ventured out to try the orange/carrot on my last morning, and I really dug it! What was I thinking waiting so long?

There’s also egg and some hot foods. The egg yolks are so orange (or at least in real life), that’s good, right?
And as it seems to be everywhere in europe, there’s always some kind of cold cut and cheese. We have a couple of hams here.

By the time thursday night rolled around, which was everyone’s last night at this hotel, we were all too tired to venture out to eat. So we just stayed in and let Jimmy cook for us. The food menu here is very small, but that was fine by me. I got a mixed salad and a pasta with garlic, oil, and hot pepper oil. It was so simple and delicious!
