Do you want to know how long it’s been since I’ve been to More Than Just Ice Cream? I was trying to remember, and it’s been so long, I didn’t remember. It had to have been in the 90′s. Seriously, it was that long ago. What I do remember is that I went for brunch and that it was good. A whole slew of us went one morning on a lovely day. With every brunch entree, you get a complimentary mimosa. How can you not love that?
There’s tons to choose from and you get plenty of food. The french toast, topped with apples and served with a side of canadian bacon. This was an impressive dish.
The chicken salad sandwich, with heaping mounds of chicken salad, a side of greens, some cantaloupe, and a pickle. J enjoyed this sandwich quite a bit. I was a bit jealous of it.
The last time I was here I had gotten the eggs benedict. I wasn’t going to mess with this. Once again, it was quite delicious. Canadian bacon on english muffins, topped with poached eggs and hollandaise. It was served with a healthy helping of home fries. It’s good to know that dish was still good here. For those that had room, some ice cream was also had. I was stuffed, so I had to pass.

While walking around in Ballard, I came upon a frozen yogurt place, Mooberry. It seems like the name is a bit of a copyright infringement on Pinkberry, but whatever, I’m no lawyer. It wasn’t that warm out, but it was warm enough for me. I got plain yogurt, with a dollop or mango and pomegranate, just because I wanted to see what the flavored yogurt was all about. I didn’t get any fruit toppings because their fruit topping options were rather paltry. The flavored yogurt? Eh. I liked the plain much better. They need better cups though. These generic dixie cups just ain’t doing it.

On my last day in LA I did lots and lots of walking. Around 4 miles actually. And with my short stumps for legs, just think about how many steps that is! As a reward, I treated myself to some frozen yogurt.
Red Mango was the choice this time. They’re a Korean chain that made it to the US last year. They don’t seem to have as many topping options as pinkberry. I liked the store though. Clean and simple and modern, yet warm and inviting.
I never get any of the cereal or nut toppings, I’m just much more of a fan of the fruit. Their fruit selection seemed a bit limited, but I went with blackberry and mango. For a place with mango in their name, the mango was quite unripe. And being in southern california, I thought it wouldn’t be too hard to find some ripe mango. At least the blackberries were good. The yogurt itself was good. There’s something surprisingly tasty about plain frozen yogurt. I think pinkberry is still my favorite.

" list. So of course, I decided to try them all. Join me for this 15-post series, as I test out each of these cocktails to see just how worthy they are.
