I missed most of Philly Beer Week this year because my vacation was unfortunately scheduled smack dab in the middle of it. It’s not a terrible thing, because I’m not the greatest drinker in the world, let alone beer drinker, but I was bummed about not being able to catch some of the more food related events. But on the last sunday, which may not have even officially been part of the week, I did get to catch one beer at Devil’s Den. That’s not a picture of my beer, that’s water, obviously, but I promise that I did drink a beer. It was a small and strong beer. I didn’t quite care for it, but I swear it happened!
You can get proper entrees and such here, but they also have a cheese and meat plate from Di Bruno Brothers. Yum! It came with some cured meats, cheese, nuts, dried cranberries, honey, and bread! And it was a lovely evening to sit outside, nibble on some cheese, and get loaded. No, I didn’t get loaded on one beer! Sheesh!

When the weather gets nice for outdoor dining, I always like to take advantage. One of the nicest spots to dine al fresco has and always will be Beau Monde. They even have umbrellas so you can avoid the evil direct rays of the soleil. Yeah, I speak francais real good.
I got the savory crepe of the day which was some type of grilled chicken breast with chipotle and grilled corn and cheese and a side of apple pepper salsa. It was pretty good, but surprisingly not nearly as flavorful as one would have guessed. Despite all the color, ingredients, and hoopla, it was rather bland.
This is B’s savory crepe – scrambled eggs with roasted poblano peppers, tomatoes, swiss cheese, avocado corn salsa, and caramelized tomato sauce. It’s one of the recommended brunch crepes and this one definitely won out. It was so much better than mine and this one’s hoopla ended up with a wonderful combination of flavors! Maybe I’m better at picking sweet crepes.

We somehow lucked out and snagged an outside table at Barbuzzo at the last minute. It was a perfect night for outdoor dining. Since it was the night before memorial day, it wasn’t all that crazy. I had actually eaten a big dinner already so I was just here to hang out and have a drink… and perhaps get some dessert.
My sanguinello! It was tasty, but not very strong. Usually, I feel it within a sip or two of any drink. With this, I did not feel it at all. Oh well, it was still enjoyable.
The chicken liver and foie gras mousse, with brandied cherry, pistachio salt, and radish sprouts. It’s served with some bread and a shredded beet salad. So good! M thought it was pretty darn good. Not as good as homemade stuff she’s had before from a french person, but still up there.
I recommended that M order the fideua, since I’d tried it before and loved it. Here it is with smoked chourico sausage, calamari, shrimp, mussels, greens, roasted shrimp noodles, and aioli. It’s still great. And it’s a lot bigger than I remember it being. It’s a pretty huge serving considering this is a small plates place.
So even if I wasn’t hungry, I wasn’t going to be at Barbuzzo and not get the salted caramel budino. Yeah, it’s still fantastically awesome. M hadn’t had it before and she was so surprised at how good it was! She wasn’t even hungry at this point but she helped me devour it. You can’t help but devour this dessert!

" list. So of course, I decided to try them all. Join me for this 15-post series, as I test out each of these cocktails to see just how worthy they are.
